Mad Max: Fury Road is to begin filming in Namibia next month, lead actress Charlize Theron has said.
The Prometheus star told Shock Till You Drop that she is eager for the George Miller-helmed project to commence following multiple delays during pre-production.
“I’m very excited about it; I’m f**king dying!” said Theron. “It’s been three years; it’s time to skin this cat already!”
Mad Max: Fury Road, the fourth entry in the series, was originally going to shoot in Broken Hill, Australia until a flood engulfed the area and left it covered with flowers and greenery.
“It was a huge problem,” Theron explained. “The desert never recovered. Well, it did recover in a beautiful way, just not the way we needed!”
Tom Hardy will play protagonist Max Rockatansky in the upcoming sequel, a role made famous by Mel Gibson in the previous installments. Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Isabella Kravitz, and Adelaide Clemens will feature among the supporting cast.
Mad Max: Fury Road is yet to be assigned a release date.
